Thanks for checking up on What's new with us! Bill and I are very pleased to announce that we have been nominated for Vocal Group of the Year in the Americana category for the AMCA awards for 2014! That means we finished among the top three of the nominees voted on this year in that category. It warms our hearts to receive that kind of recognition from our music community here in southwestern Virginia.
Sweet Peace – our latest CD was released in May 2013. It was recorded at After 5 Studio by Jody King, who also did the producing, mixing and mastering. The photography was by Cheri Williams. Bill is playing a Brazilian OOOO short scale guitar he made and Maggie is playing that same sweet sapele dobro Bill made years ago for her. Bill is also playing a carved bass he put together and Jody is playing a banjo he made on “Stony Creek”. Our latest CD – Sweet Peace, is just now being released. The titles on it are:
Here we are being recorded on the April 2, 2011 Song of the Mountains show. This program is recorded live at the Lincoln Theater in Marion, VA and then shown on more than 160 PBS stations. We're still getting responses from people from all across the country to our last show that we did in 2009 for Song of the Mountains. Now we're hearing from people who have seen us on the 2011 show. Here are pictures from that show:
The Master's Garden is all-gospel. It was recorded, mixed, and produced by Jimmy Edmonds and mastered by Wes Easter in 2010. Jimmy even played fiddle for us on a couple of the songs!
We've have gotten really good response so far and hope you like it too. The October 2010 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited said "Anyone familiar with the music of Bill and Maggie Anderson would certainly do well to pick up on their latest collection of heartfelt gospel music". Read more about it and see the song list on our CD page. You can also go to our fan page on Facebook "Bill and Maggie Anderson", and hear some clips from the songs.
We're still getting a good response to our High on a Mountain CD that we released last year. The November 2009 issue of Bluegrass Unlimited said: "For homespun vocals supported by dynamic instrumentation, it would be almost impossible to top the music of Bill and Maggie Anderson."
Find out more about it on our CD playlist page. We continue to love our home in the mountains!
